NOTICE OF PREPARATION OF THE DRAFT

MONAGHAN COUNTY DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2025 – 2031

Notice is hereby given that Monaghan County Council, being the Planning Authority for the County, prepared a Draft Monaghan County Development Plan for the period 2025-2031.

The Draft Plan is accompanied by a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Environmental Report, an Appropriate Assessment (AA) Natura Impact Report and a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment. These documents are contained as Appendices to the Draft Plan.

The Draft Plan (Written Statement, Appendices and Maps) will be on display from Thursday 5th September 2024 to Thursday 14th November 2024 and is available to view  online at:  https://monaghan.ie/planning/monaghan-county-development-plan-2025-2031/

Printed copies of the Draft Plan (Written Statement, Appendices and Maps) are available to view at the following locations:

  • The Planning Office, 1 Dublin Street, Monaghan H18 X982 from 9.15am-1.00pm and 1.30pm-5.15pm.

Submissions or Observations

Submissions or observations regarding the Draft Plan (Written Statement, Appendices and Maps) are invited from members of the public and other interested parties. You can make a submission or observation from Thursday 5th September 2024 up to 5pm on Thursday 14th November 2024.

Submissions or observations can be made:

  • Online via the Councils Online Consultation Portal https://consult.monaghancoco.ie/
  • By email to devplan@monaghancoco.ie or
  • By post addressed to The Forward Planning Unit, Planning Department, 1 Dublin Street, Monaghan Town, H18 X982
  • Please make your submission or observation by one medium only i.e. Online via the Consultation Portal or by email or hard copy.
  • Ensure your submission or observation is clearly marked Draft Monaghan County Development Plan 2025 – 2031.

In respect of making a submission or observation please note the following:

  • Submissions/observations should include your name and address, a map (if required for identification purposes) and, where relevant, details of any organisation, community group or company etc., which you represent (these details will be included in the Chief Executive’s Report and online). Your address/email address will be used for correspondence purposes only and will be redacted.
  • Children, or groups, associations or guardians representing the interests of children, are particularly encouraged to make submissions or observations regarding the foregoing.
  • Please be advised that all submissions/observations received will be published online on the Council’s Consultation Portal in accordance with the requirements of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (as amended) within 10 working days of receipt.
  • You should ensure that no vexatious, libellous, or confidential information, including confidential information relating to a third party (in respect of which the third party has not, expressly, or impliedly in the circumstances, consented to its disclosure) is included in your submission/ observation. The Planning Authority reserves the right to redact any submission/observation or part thereof that does not comply with this requirement.

Written submissions or observations with respect to the Draft Plan that are made to the Planning Authority within the period stated will be taken into consideration before the making of the Plan.

The deadline for receipt of submissions or observations is 5pm on Thursday 14th November 2024.

Please note LATE submissions or observations will not be considered.
