Monaghan County Council has engaged Studio Idir planning consultants to conduct a comprehensive review of Inniskeen village, consult with the community and produce both a spatial plan which will look at the infrastructural needs of the village to enable its development in a planned way over the next twenty years, and a community plan which will look at the social, cultural and economic needs of the community and produce an action plan which seeks to address any deficits which may be present.
This is a unique approach, merging for the first time a community plan with a spatial plan, and we are excited to be piloting the initiative in Inniskeen.
We are conscious that this is not the first planning exercise the people of Inniskeen have participated in. In the previous 5 years, consultations have been held around the preparation of a Public Realm Spatial Land Use plan by Paul Hogarth Company, and the 20 year Development Masterplan by Inniskeen Enterprise Development Group. We appreciate and acknowledge the participation of the community in these plans.
A lot of excellent information was collected through these consultations, and we therefore don't propose to go over the same ground again. Instead, we would like to build and expand on the foundations laid by these previous projects.
Eleven key opportunities have already been identified through the previous work: we would like your input now to validate, challenge and add to the findings as we now move forward with the Inniskeen Community Vision and Spatial Land Use Plan.
Sometimes circumstances change and issues are no longer a priority. Sometimes new challenges or needs emerge. It's important therefore to provide you with an opportunity to review the work to date and add on anything which may be needed.
We are very grateful for your time and knowledge.
