Open6 Oct, 2025, 09:00 - 30 Nov, 2025, 17:00

Monaghan County Council want the voice of the older person in Monaghan to be heard and for them to be an integral part of plans, strategies and actions of the local authority. Monaghan Age Friendly are currently preparing a new Age Friendly Strategy to cover the period 2026-2030.

Monaghan has been an Age Friendly County since 2011 with the goal to ensure the people of the county are able to age well this mean creating a society that is inclusive and equitable where the knowledge, skill and input of older people is valued and embedded in all aspects of the plans and actions of the local authority. This will ensure that people over the age of 55 feel they are living a full, active and healthy life.

Monaghan County Council is affiliated to the WHO Global network of Age Friendly Cities and Communities. In order to bring the values and ethos of Age Friendly Ireland to Monaghan an Age Friendly Strategy is an essential policy document in order to make Monaghan a great place to grow older in. Our Age Friendly Alliance, which is made up of key agencies who’s work directly impacts the older people of the county, is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the actions of the Age Friendly Strategy.
